Plain version
Cinderwake is a hidden war-forge: an old military base that has to be repaired room by room.
This is spoiler-free. I am using this post to explain the series idea, not to walk through the plot.
A base is a list of needs
Cinderwake is base-building fiction, but the base does not arrive as a clean menu. It starts as a damaged place with bad air, bad heat, thin power, locked rooms, and people who still need to sleep.
That is the opening pressure. The crew is not choosing upgrades because the numbers look nice. They are trying to keep a dead military station from becoming a tomb with better lighting.
The reactor buys time
The Ashheart is the station's reactor heart. Plain version: it gives the base heat, light, air movement, and enough uptime for other systems to matter.
It also creates trouble. A warmer, brighter, more active base is harder to hide. Every survival improvement can make the station more visible to the wrong people.
Rooms change who can stay
A medical room is not just a healing icon. It needs power, clean space, supplies, staff attention, and time. A habitat ring is a living area, not just a bed count. It changes privacy, safety, and who is allowed to become part of the place.
That is why Cinderwake works room by room. Each repair solves a real problem, then hands the crew a larger one.
